WHAT TO DO, SEE, EAT AND WEAR THIS SEPTEMBER.
It’s the start of a new season so no better time to launch our brand new monthly feature where we bring you the very best in what to do, see, eat and wear each month from a Gather&See perspective, embracing all our favourite things. So with out further ado...welcome to Gather&See’s September Issue.
We LOVE September. Maybe it’s a hang up from school with all the excitement that comes from coming back from the long summer holidays, rested, refreshed and sometimes reinvented to see your friends and start a new year. Or maybe it has something to do with the arrival of the new season collections in store and glossy new advertising spreads in our favourite magazines. Either way there is a definite and palpable air of anticipation and energy that hits us at this time of year and we can’t get enough of it. So make the most of the September buzz and get your teeth into our favourite things from Fashion Weeks to #Organic September we have it all.
Join The Fash Pack.
This Thursday marks the beginning of the marathon that is Fashion Week season with New York followed by London, Milan and Paris. Of course we think London is the best - even if you can’t blag your way into a show Somerset House is the perfect spot for people watching with hipsters and poseurs vying for the attention in the forecourt. After the fash pack have disappeared off to Milan the madness subsides for the slightly more laid back London Fashion Weekend, one of the countries biggest public fashion showcases.
What to Wear: Fashion forward pieces from Riyka, LFW’s ethical arm Estethica alumni Flavia La Rocca and statement pieces from Feral Childe.
Celebrate the beginning of the Grape Harvest in Bordeaux
September is the perfect time to visit Bordeaux with the weather still good and a number of grape harvest festivals taking place throughout the region. The most famous is St Emilion’s Jurade on the third weekend of this month with processions, tastings and tours taking place to celebrate the start of the harvest. We recommend recovering (or continuing!) at Les Sources Caudaulie spa where treatments combine the virtues of natural hot spring water and grapes from the vineyard. Well it would be rude not to.
What to wear: Finlay & Co sunnies, soft draping Organic cotton from Kotow and loose CUS tops.
Rooftop Film Club
The weather often surprises us in September with a few last warm and sunny days. Make the most of them and spend an evening outdoors at the Rooftop Film Club at venues across London from Peckham to Shoreditch. Enjoy food, drinks and absolute classics including Clueless, Grease and Breakfast at Tiffanys. What is not to love!
What to Wear: A Beaumont Organic Knit to cosy up in and our most comfortable Nobody Jeans.
A Fashion Legend – Horst
The hotly anticipated restrospective of one of the 20th Century’s Master Photogaphers works will start at the V&A from September the 6th. Featuring some of the most iconic fashion photography of all time this is one we can’t wait for and will be bringing you more on soon.
What to Wear: Vintage glamour with, Upstate and Anne Gorke
This month is officially #OrganicSeptember so we are going all out organic with our clothes and our food! Check out your local farm shop or an online veg box provider like Able&Cole to find the best produce and get cooking. Also get picking – blackberry season is almost upon us, yum! This week we will be making Plum and Almond Tart with homegrown plums and Butternut Squash and Sage risotto. Stay tuned to Instagram to see the fruits of our labours!
What to Wear: Loose comfy Feral Childe trousers and Kowtow jersey’s for the kitchen.
