The September Issue 2018

We just love September. The mix of back to school vibes, new seasons collections arriving in store and generally still lovely but less hot weather makes September an invigorating, even hopeful month. It is also a month where produce is abundant and we celebrate all things organic which ties into several of our suggestions of what to do this month. Read on to get inspired for the month ahead.

1. ORGANIC SEPTEMBER

The Soil Association's Organic September gets bigger and bigger every year. It is all about celebrating organic food, drink, beauty and of course clothing. At Gather&See we will be running special promotions on our organic products and on a wider scale you will find all offers, events and inspiration from organic producers throughout the country.

2. GO ORGANIC

Leading on neatly from point 1 - the UK's biggest organic festival takes place this month at Battersea Park in London. The GO! Organic Festival in Battersea Park will be showcasing all things organic with more than 100 food, drink and lifestyle brands with tasty organic treats, lots of beer, amazing live music, celebrity chefs, inspiring talks and entertainment for the whole family. A great way to spend a weekend!

3. FASHION ROUNDTABLE AT THE HOXTON

We are super excited to be showcasing some of our new season's product exclusively at The Hoxton on September 12th as a part of their Hox How To Event: Exploring Body Image & Identity Politics. The event will consist of thought-provoking discussion around body positivity and identity politics hosted by Fashion Roundtable with some of the industry’s most inspiring and real-talking players including Caryn Franklin MBEChidera Eggerue #SAGGYBOOBSMATTER creator and drag queen polymath Jacob Mallinson-Bird

4. FASHION WEEK

September is fashion month as the crazy circus that comes with the international fashion weeks rolls into town from 14th-18th September. LFW is making a concerted effort to showcase and highlight ethical sustainably produced brands and we always look forward to heading down for a first glimp of what might lie ahead for the next season. The throng outside is worth going to take a look at in its own right - street style photographers, fashion editors and plenty of poseurs make for amusing people watching or visit the rather more inclusive London Fashion Weekend once the fash pack have blown on to Milano.

5. FESTIVAL OF IDEAS

If you are looking for a little inspiration in your life then what could be better than a 'Festival of Ideas'. The Royal Academy is putting on its first Fesival of Ideas this month with a host of events from a talk by the renowned photographer David Bailey to debates on class and culture, with something for all ages and tastes. Keep the kids entertained with animal drawing workshops and interactive storytelling sessions.

5. WHAT TO EAT

Produce is at its very best this month in the UK, and its a time we always regret not having got organized in planting our own seeds in the spring (note to self for next year). Head down to your local farmers market for heaps of apples, plums, courgettes, beans... the list goes on and on. And then there are the blackberries. We can't think of many better ways to spend a September Sunday afternoon than foraging in the hedgerows for those little black jewels. Bake them up into a pie or crumble with some apples for a classic comfort pud.

6. WHAT TO WEAR

Taking inspiration from Organic September we are focussing on our organic brands all this month including new arrivals from Kowtow and Veja. Kowtow's denim Contemporary Shirt Dress is made from 100% organic and fair trade denim and works as both a coat and dress. Meanwhile every single pair of Vejas is lined with organic cotton - we are loving the clean lines of the Esplar Extra White. Elsewhere, Satva's Tia jumper is woven from pure organic cotton and has just landed in a gorgeous mottled black/grey.
