Well, there is no doubt about it, things are cooling down and the nights are most definitely drawing in as we pass into the darker part of year. But despair not! Now is the time to cosy up and soothe the soul with candles and lights in the home but it is also time to get outside and enjoy the crisper air before the big freeze sets in. November is one of those busy months with so much going on and so much to do. From traditional Bonfire Night celebrations to cultural offerings and some exciting events of our own to throw in, make this November one to remember.
FIRE AND LIGHT
With the nights getting darker so much earlier now, it is timely that November brings various celebrations involving warmth, fire and light. Get outside and enjoy Bonfire Night and some brilliant Fireworks displays going on between 3rd - 8th November for Guy Fawkes night. Meanwhile 7th November marks the Hindu festival of light, Diwali, with light displays going on up and down the country. Definitely something to warm the soul.

FIND LOVE WITH MY FRIEND CHARLIE
Colder weather; long, dark nights - November is the ideal time to spark a little romance and make these cold months a little warmer with someone new. If you have had your fill of traditional dating sites or swiping right then check out My Friend Charlie, a dating events company which organizes some awesome events that just happen to be for singles. No awkwardness or pressure, just a good time with like minded people. This month they are offering a Wine Tasting Quiz in Borough Market (sign me up...) or why not sign up for their weekly MFC Bootcamp - even if you don't meet the one, you'll get fit!!
Find out more at https://myfriendcharlie.co.uk/.
GET YOUR SKATES ON
Once you've found your date through My Friend Charlie then what could be more romantic for a first date than a trip to one of London's ice rinks. Try out Somerset House or the Natural Museum for some frozen fun with a beautiful back drop and then treat yourself to a little mulled wine or hot chocolate after. Also a great outing for the kids, though perhaps just a touch less romantic...
OCEANIA AT THE ROYAL ACADEMY
Oceania brings together around 200 exceptional works from public collections worldwide, and spans over 500 years. From shell, greenstone and ceramic ornaments, to huge canoes and stunning god images, we explore important themes of voyaging, place making and encounter. The exhibition draws from rich historic ethnographic collections dating from the 18th century to the present, and includes seminal works produced by contemporary artists exploring history, identity and climate change.
Until 10th December
WORLD VEGAN MONTH
November is World Vegan Month and an extra special time for G&S as we have just announced Vegan as our 6th Philosophy. Use the month to explore how eating a more Vegan based diet and adapting your lifestyle can benefit humans, animals and the environment.
WHAT TO EAT
In the spirit of World Vegan Month we will be rustling up some of our favourite vegan recipes using some of the gorgeous Autumnal fruit and veg that is in season. Alexandra Dudley's squash and chestnut bake hits the spot perfectly. Meanwhile wee still have a tonne of apples so will be trying this delicious Apple Crumble recipe from The Minimalist Baker - you can still have sweet treats, Vegan style!
