Darling buds of May indeed - what a sweet month this is - longer and warmer days, blossoming flowers and the promise of summer ahead. WHAT TO DO…
May sees the arrival of the Craft Festival to London celebrating craftsmen who intricately handmake their wares. From jewellers to potters and artists, we are constantly inspired by the creativity of the human mind. We will be focusing on our HERITAGE philosophy this month which is all about brands that use traditional craftmanship and work to preserve age-old artisan techniques. Disover more about how our brands' talented craftsmen make your products here.
WHAT TO SEE….
Vogue 100: A Century of Style at The National Portrait Gallery
As the iconic style bible that is Vogue, celebrates 100 years, this exhibition at The National Portrait Gallery tells the story of the past century through the magazine's fabeled photgraphy. An absolute must for fashion lovers and social historians alike, the exhibition takes us through the great changes in style that the past 100 years has seen and is punctuated by the many events that shaped these changes. As stylish as you would imagine, but with a depth you might not have expected.
Until May 22nd National Portrait Gallery, London
WHERE TO GO…
May is a great time to head for the West Coast for a stylish road trip. LA is home to the gorgeous Osei Duro, which merges Californian laid back style with Ghanaian prints. Make the modernist and reasonably priced Standard West Hollywood your base to explore the city. Head up the coast to San Francisco for a different feel - the Napa vineyards are definitely calling for a crisp glass of Sauvignon Blanc. The Post Ranch Inn might be eyewateringly expensive but the views are hard to beat.
WHAT TO EAT....
Fresh New Season Produce
As if we needed another reason to love this month, it is also now Asparagus season. Out of season Asparagus tends to come from Peru or Kenya meaning massive airmiles and a carbon footprint so we prefer to wait for the better tasting British version to come into their own. Keep it simple with just a bit of melted butter and seasoning to accompany it. In addition, the humble potato never tasted so good with the arrival of new season Jersey Royals. Delicious, simple and good for you. What more could you want.
WHAT TO WEAR...
Finally its time to peel off those layers and welcome back pretty summer dresses, soft blouses and sandals. Our latest new brand Tinsels has a fabulous selection of summer dresses, laid back tops and lightweight trousers that are all exquisitly made from fabrics woven in French mills (HERITAGE). Meanwhile Beaumont Organics new collection is full of easy to wear ORGANIC pieces that you will just want to live in this summer. For sweet summer prints and vintage styling check out Bibico's pretty collection. Finally the Matt&Nat's ECO FRIENDLY vegan Villeray sandals have been a bestseller - be sure to snap yourself a pair up before they've all gone.
