The January Issue

Make January a month of discovery and new beginnings rather than hibernating from the cold and feigning sobriety. With our list of some amazing things to do, see and wear you can get 2016 off to the right start.

WHAT TO DO…

Shop Gather&See in London

This month sees our first collaboration with Peckham boutique, Bias. Gather&See will be showcasing selection of products edited especially for the London store, which is situated on Bellenden Road, from January 19th. It is the first time we have worked with Bias and we are super excited to have our stock available for you to be able to view our pieces at first hand. Do head down and take a look!

Make Some Fashion Resolutions

If you are thinking of what resolutions to make this year then give your wardrobe some thought. What we choose to buy, wear and the way we treat our clothing can not only help people and the environment (our raison d'etre) it will make you look and feel better too. A great starting point is Livia Firths campaign to only buy clothes you will wear more than 30 times. It is about choosing items that you will cherish and care for and wear time after time.

Getting rid of the fast fashion pieces in your wardrobe that will never satisfy you will give you some head space to think clearly about what you really want and need. Try choosing organic cotton where  you can -  brands like Kowtow offer the softest pieces that are stylish and resilient in equal measures. Aim to find out about the story behind your clothing - who made it and where, under what conditions. Knowing the stories behind some of our most inspiring brands like Osei Duro and A Peace Treaty makes wearing the pieces all the more pleasurable. Try it and see!

WHAT TO SEE….

The London International Mime Festival

January is all about trying something new and becoming inspired for the year ahead. We absolutely love the idea of discovering more about the fascinating world of mime.  The 40-year-old London International Mime Festival – the longest running of its kind – features shows across London.

The festival runs from Jan 9–Feb 6.

WHERE TO GO…

The Alps

The weather here might be damp and mild so head but the Alps are receiving beautiful fresh dumps of snowfall daily right now making them the perfect January destination. Find your inner ski bunny and perfect your parallel turns in France's high octane ski resorts or for an altogether calmer approach spend a weekend mooching around the Austrian city of Salzburg - the setting for the Sound of Music and perfect wintry escape. The Blauegans hotel is arty and minimalist and sits in the perfect location for exploring the city.

WHAT TO EAT....

Healthy Comfort Food

We all might have over indulged just a tad in December so January is a time for wholesome, fresh ingredients and warming dishes to see you through this cold month. Start your days with good old fashioned porridge topped with someting sweet - dates, figs, bee pollen - the possibilities are endless!! Soups and broths are also a simple and nourishing optin  not to mention chep which always helps at this time of year! For insipiration check out the brilliant Deliciously Ella for delicious, health conscious recipes to get your started.

WHAT TO WEAR...

Gorgeous Winter Warmers

It's all about dressing for the elements this month. Beaumont Organics cosy pieces are a great place to start - the April jumper is a pefect cosy knit meanwhile A Peace Treaty's 100% baby alpaca scarves add a luxurious touch to any outfit. For outerwear look to Kowtow's fabulous trench coat to protect yourself from this island's downpours or Cus's gorgeous Maud coat crafted from Italian recycled wool. Cosy never looked so cool.
