The Orchid Festival at Kew

Carrying on with the love theme, one of our most romantic spots in London, Kew Gardens is holding an Orchid Festival this month. This year's festival is inspired by Brazil with a colourful carnival theme. Highlights include two giant 'Rainforest Tree' sculptures covered with beautiful Oncidium orchids, a tunnel of vibrant tropical plants and five figures situated in the pond representing the flamboyant costumes of Brazilian carnival dancers made from Bromeliads and Phalaenopsis. Four late night events also take place during the exhibition (Feb 11, 18, 25 and Mar 3) packed with talks, interactive workshops and a bar serving up botanical cocktails.

In search of winter sun.

With there still a couple of cold months to go of winter in the Northen Hemisphere to go, February is a great time to catch some winter sun.  Sri Lanka seems to be top of everyone's list, the Carribean offers guaranteed sunshine, or for closer to home Morrocco boasts culture and warmth at only 4 hours flight away. We love the amazing Riad Tarabel in Marrakech for a sublime city bolthole in the sun.

Check out I-Escape and Black Tomato for seriously good looking inspriation.

Erm pancakes of course!! We will be loading ours with a good dollop of mascarpone and mountains of fresh fruit - blueberries, figs and strawberries to make us feel better about the rest of the calories. For something different make a savoury crepe - smoked salmon, dill and creme fraiche or blue cheese and rocket. Mmmm....
