So New York might have the glamour, Milan the food, and Paris the romance but it is London where our hearts truly lie. London has the je ne sais quois, the thing that is hard to put your finger on, that strange combination of attributes that makes it so unique. It is a city of juxtapositions, a melting pot of cultures, tastes and styles and above all a hub of creativity . You can't help but walk a bit faster, work a bit harder and hold your head up a bit higher in these streets. As someone who now lives out of town I can feel the difference as soon as I step off the train - we call it 'London Speed'. And it is infectious.
Despite the obvious stomping grounds of the well documented London tribes - West End gloss to East End edge and everything in between - there are pockets of creativity and innovation absolutely everywhere. Whether it is a pop up restaurant, art gallery or design studio, you can see why London's design talent and London Fashion Week is seen as one of the most important in terms of pushing boundaries and presenting genuinely exciting shows and real talent. We are lucky at Gather&See to have some ethical brands on board that are built on and inspired by London energy and style.
Veryan is based in Bermondsey and produces perfectly cut separates such as the best selling soft jersey crop T. Goodone and Riyka both hail from East London and specialise in using recycled and British sustainable fabrics to produce their own unique styles of casual cool with Goodone being known for its knitwear pieces and Riyka for panelled jersey. Meanwhile, accessory designer Danielle Foster designs to die for leather bags from her Mare Street studio where she works with British sourced leathers and hardware. I really don't want to say 'get the London look' but they do have a point.
