This month's Gather&See girl is none other than the very talented musician, Rosie Lowe. Check out her Q&A below.
Name & Age:
Rosie Lowe, 25 years old.
Lives: Deptford, London.
Occupation: Musician and Songwriter.
Who inspires you?
My friends, my family, London, Devon, night walks, day strolls, music, silence. I think inspiration is always there but I’ve got to be in the right mindset to let it in.
What is the best piece of advice you have ever been given?
A very special person taught me to treat creativity like seasons; sometimes theres seasons where nothing comes & that its ok to just be. He taught me to not push it; to allow myself the time & the space to take the world in & be inspired. Then sometimes it comes all at once and pours out of you, but with most things; I don't think you can have one without the other.
What advice would you give your 13 year old self?
Don’t grow up too fast; enjoy youth & the freedom that comes with that.
Follow your instincts.
Don’t pluck your eyebrows!! (I was told this regularly as my eyebrows were like Bjorks. Unfortunately I didn't listen.)
What makes you angry?
When people can't find the capacity to apologise.
What makes you happy?
What's your favourite restaurant?
‘Ajjichiban’- Incredible little Japanese restaurant in Greenwich. http://www.aji-ichiban.co.uk/en/
What's your favourite album?
Almost impossible to answer… one I continually come back to & never get bored of is Erykah Badu’s ‘Mamas Gun’
What's your song of the moment?
Right now I’m loving Nick Hakim; ‘Sleep'
Latest discovery in your hometown?
I read today in the Telegraph that Devon has been named the best place to live in England. I’d agree- It’s such a magical place & I was so lucky to grow up there. http://www.telegraph.co.uk/news/4359608/Devon-named-as-the-best-place-to-live-in-England.html
Where is on your travel hit list for 2015?
I’m dying to spend some time in the USA so my fingers and toes are firmly crossed.
I’ll be going to Australia for some shows in the summer which is hugely exciting & I dream of going snowboarding in Canada on a daily basis.
Which city in the world would you love to live in for just 1 year?
Which is your favourite piece on the G&S website at the moment?
The Josie jumper or the Uma dress.
If you could change 1 thing in the world what would it be?
I would abolish hierarchical structural abuses of power
What is your personal style?
Simple, black, clean lines, strong shapes, comfy. Comfort is key.
Who are your style icons or fashion hero?
Jane Birkin or Patti Smith.
What is the item in your wadrobe you most treasure?
An old ripped pair of Adidas leggings my Mum wore when she was my age. They’ve got holes all over them but they are the comfiest things i’ve ever worn.
What is your 'can't live without' beauty product?
Elizabeth Arden 8 Hour Cream. It saves me on a daily basis.
Why do you love Gather&See?
Firstly, I love the collections on Gather & See but what’s hugely important for me is to know that the clothes I buy haven't hurt anyone in the process.
Please put together your favourite outfit from the G&S website.
When’s your next single out?
My next single ‘Who’s That Girl?’ is out now with a video I did with the incredible directing duo ‘Byson’. I’m really excited sharing this one!
