With winter finally coming to an end (we hope!), we are now at the time in the year when one of our favouite items of clothing - the culotte - really comes into its own! Time to let those ankles see the light of day and enjoy all that a good pair of culottes have to offer... Here's a few pairs that we love and some notes on how we like to style them....
1. KOWTOW'S GOLD CASTING PANT
The colour of these is bang on, but also Kowtow's tailoring is crafted to perfection as always. The warm gold hue will brighten up your look and we love the idea of playing on that further by wearing with one of A.A.K.S bold Hana bags. Keep the top half simple with the Building Block V T (which, incidentally, will go with each and every pair of trousers listed on this page. The Wata in Jute will work a dream with the bag and culottes.
2. COSSAC'S BLACK CULOTTES
You just can't go wrong with a good pair of black culottes, any day of the year. They are pretty much uniform at G&S. This pair from Cossac are the perfect length and width and have pockets and some cheeky little slits up the side for a little je ne sais quoi. They are made from eco friendly Tencel which is soft and tactile. Wear with Rakha's khaki shirt and an A.A.K.S bag for an assured summer look. Spot on.
3. KEMP GADEGAARD'S PRINT IZAR CULOTTE
We are suckers for a good print and Kemp Gadegaard's Izar print is one of the best we've seen all season. Digitally printed (to preserve water) on 100% silk, these culottes are so lightweight and luxurious - it is like wearing fresh air. Great for hot days and holidays but equally we love these worn with Kowtow's Escape Crew in Spring (or in most of the summer when it is cold in the UK). A metallic trainer completes the look.
4. BEAUMONT ORGANIC'S WHITE TRACEY MAE JEANS
It was love at first sight when we first laid eyes on Beaumont Organic's Tracey Mae trousers. Made from a startchy white denim, they have a high waist and sculpt and mould to your figure. They have a slightly slimmer leg than some of our other styles and have an upscale vibe about them. Wear them for work paired with Kowtow's printed Balance top and the White Esplar Vejas.
OK, so it's a jumpsuit, but it has wide leg, culotte style pants so it counts! Cossac's super soft cupro material means this jumpsuit has a fluidity to it which make's wearing it a dream. Again we love the elasticated waist detail (see a theme going on here!) and the strappy top half is feminine and slimming. You an wear it over a basic T (see Building Block V neck above) with your V10 Nautico's to dress it down or throw on some heels and up the bling with a Kind Jewllery pendant to up the glam factor. Just the kind of versatility we love!
6. KEMP GADEGAARD'S WIDE LEG SCULPTOR PANTS
We love these for all manner of reasons, not least the way that the heavy weight organic cotton fabric flatteringly drapes off your derriere, but also they have an elastic waist! Which means they are unbelivably comfortable and forgiving! We'll be pairing simply with Beaumont's Rita Mae top, the new Wata style Vejas and Little Joy's Aluna earrings. Casual, cool and comfortable - it's a win win.
