The December Issue

Things are starting to get festive! December is such a magical month with so much to do, and the promise of celebration and time spent with loved ones at the end of it all. We have rounded up our top list of things to do this month including parties, skating, food and of course our December what to wear edit for the very best in Christmas inspired pieces!

Make it a Conscious Christmas

Sustainability is something that thankfully is on everybody's minds. With the climate crisis and so much inequality, injustice and fraction in the world right now, it has never been more important to be mindful this Christmas. From zero-waste gifts, recycled wrapping paper and homemade decorations to donating your time to local charities there is so much we can all do to make Christmas a little kinder. Check out our Gift of Goodness gift guide for a few ideas.

Get your Skates On

Dip your toes, so to speak, into the festivities early on in December by visiting one of the many ice rinks that have now popped up around the country and in London. The Natural History Museum's iconic setting might be the most Christmassy of all. Settle your nerves with a quick mulled wine before and you'll be gliding around gracefully in no time.

Christmas at Kew Gardens

Christmas at Kew sees the entire attraction lit up. Feast your eyes on more than a million sparkling pea-lights, thousands of laser5 beams in the iconic Temperate House and a brand-new waterfall of lights falling from tree canopies flooded with festive colour. The kids will love it.

Give Something Back this Christmas

As much as Christmas is a time of celebration and joy. It is also a time to give back and to think of all those less fortunate. The brilliant Help Refugees have opened a Choose Love pop up store where you can buy real products for refugees in need from blankets to childrens coats and firewood. The pop up is at 47 Neal St, Seven Dials London or you can buy online. https://choose.love/

Dora Maar at the Tate Modern

"Tate Modern continues its commitment to giving female artists the recognition they deserve with the biggest retrospective of Dora Maar ever held in Britain. Maar's surrealist works centre on an extensive archive of photographs and photomontages, but her career has been somewhat overshadowed by her relationship with Picasso." Until March 2015

What to Eat....

December is so often a time of over-indulgence, but whilst we love a mince pie or three - it is the veg that we'll be focussing on this month. Brussel sprouts get their fair share of flack but we love to make them into a salad in their own right - roast them up until crispy and mix with a little ricotta, some seeds and pomegranate for a delicious lunch. It's also a great time to make big batches of warming soups and stews ready to serve to house guests. And don't forget a good mulled wine! Nothing more festive than a steaming mug of something alcoholic to keep you warm on cold December nights!

What to Wear in December...

It's PARTYTIME! And we are so delighted this season to have some amazing party outfits. Clemmie Rose is a natural choice with jewel-coloured silk pieces bound to lift your spirits. Le Jaana's gorgeous clutches will add a little sparkle and are just the right size to carry all your essentials. Meanwhile for the big day itself don't forget a good Christmas knit. Chaleca's Carey Cardigan has all the hallmarks of a good one with fair isle style neckline and supersoft alpaca wool - this is has been a longtime favourite of ours well before Celine designed something very similar! Finally, if you are looking for Christmas gift ideas for yourself or someone else make sure to check out our Gift of Goodness - beautiful ideas from just £25!
